Luke graduated from Sheffield Hallam University in 2010. Upon graduating Luke volunteered in Kathmandu, Nepal at a Local Cerebral Palsy centre. During his time here he felt he was able to utilise some his newly university acquired knowledge helping children, young adults and their families manage their disabilities.
Following his Nepal experience he returned to the UK and spent almost 7 years working within the NHS before moving to Jersey with his wife in August 2017.
Luke believes strongly in patient centred care and listening to what clients problems are. Being able to understand a patients expectations and working towards specific goals are fundamental to how Luke works.
Luke has had variety of experience across a number of organisations before his move to Jersey. These roles included a variety of senior experience within learning disabilities, neurology, elderly rehab, respiratory and orthopaedics. He has also gained over 2 years senior experience and nearly 2 years as a junior within the musculoskeletal outpatient physiotherapy setting. This has included; work within GP practices, hydrotherapy and with patients with persistent pain. This also included paediatric musculoskeletal experience.
In addition Luke worked privately whilst in the UK gaining some valuable experience in paediatric neurological conditions including cerebral palsy. After three years of the hectic London life being a true West Country lad Luke craved the relaxed, more rural way of life in Jersey. Before moving to Jersey Luke undertook specialist clinical educator courses. He also gained experience within the sporting setting including rugby pitch side experience.
Outside of work Luke loves sport. A keen rugby man having played hooker or openside up until a few years ago and being an avid Gloucester rugby fan, he is happy chatting about anything rugby related. More recently he has taken to cycling in a big way. He has completed a number ofsportives and in 2016 he completed Lands End to John O Groats for charity.
Luke has more recently joined the canoe club and is throwing himself into the seaside life that Jersey offers. His New Years resolution is to be able to roll a canoe!
