JSSC Newsletter: Graduate Training Programme, Wellbeing & Summer Highlights

Sep 24, 2025

This month’s newsletter is full of positivity; our growing team, new partnerships, and bubbletecture.

We’re excited to share some big news!  Graduate Training Programme

As many of you know, finding and keeping experienced physiotherapists has become more and more difficult—not just here in Jersey, but across the UK. In fact, 3000 newly qualified physiotherapists are struggling to find their first jobs, despite being fully trained and ready to help. At JSSC, we believe that’s simply not good enough.

🌱 Investing in the Future of Physiotherapy

For the first time in our clinic’s history, we’re proud to be launching a graduate training programme designed to support new physiotherapists at the very start of their careers.

Traditionally, new graduates were expected to begin their careers in the NHS before moving into private practice—but with fewer jobs available, many are leaving the profession before they even get started. We want to change that.

Our new programme provides early-career physiotherapists with hands-on experience in musculoskeletal (MSK) care, one-on-one mentoring, and the opportunity to work with our expert team—both in the clinic and in the community through our partnership with Jersey Rugby Club.

This initiative isn’t just about filling roles. It’s about taking real, local action to ensure that Jersey continues to have access to the best possible care—now and in the future.

👋 Welcome Holly & Hugo!

We’re thrilled to welcome Holly Stearn and Hugo Elms as the first graduates to join the programme.

Both Holly and Hugo are passionate, talented, and full of energy—and we know they’re going to be a great fit with our team and our clients. Over the coming months, you’ll see them assisting in treatments, helping to deliver classes, and gaining valuable experience across a range of services.

Please join us in giving them a warm JSSC welcome when you see them in the clinic!

🧭 Why This Matters

This programme is part of our broader mission to:

1.    Support the next generation of physiotherapists

2.    Strengthen Jersey’s healthcare system

3.    Continue providing exceptional, evidence-based care to every client who walks through our doors.

Holly and Hugo will soon be available for consultations once they finish their comprehensive induction programme.

Thank you, as always, for being part of the JSSC community. Your willingness to welcome and work with our physiotherapists plays a vital role in shaping the next generation of healthcare professionals. Every session you share with our graduates helps build their confidence, refine their skills, and deepen their understanding of injuries and rehab. Your continued support makes initiatives like this possible, and we’re incredibly grateful to be growing our clinic together—with you as our valued partners in education and excellence

Back on the Pitch with Jersey Rugby Club

We’re proud to announce that we are once again providing physiotherapy support to Jersey Rugby Club for the 2025/26 season. Now competing in Regional 1 South Central – the 5th tier of English rugby – the club continues to push for excellence both on and off the field. Our very own Claire has been a key part of the setup for several seasons, delivering match-day physiotherapy for the Women’s team, and Lisa was called back into action last season to support the growing demands of the squad.

This year, we’re excited to expand our involvement even further, with Lisa, Holly, and Hugo providing expert physiotherapy services to the Men’s teams, helping all players stay healthy, recover faster, and perform at their very best.

Do give them a wave when you see them pitch side.

The rest of our team are also in the thick of training. Alongside a busy clinic, here’s what we are up to:

Claire, Julie, Sam, Edward, Holly and Lisa are preparing for the relay team for the Jersey Marathon next month. Meanwhile Abi has enjoyed her first parkrun

After months of a hard slog, Kyle has passed another big milestone in his Masters. Huge well done Kyle!

Ryan, Kelly and Nige are all in the gym and out on their bikes.

Lorianne is keeping herself fit by chasing around after her family—who needs a gym membership when you’ve got kids?!

Hugo is diligently working through his own rehab following a recent ankle fracture—turns out even physios aren’t immune to injury, so he’s definitely practising what he preaches right now!

30 Five-Star Reviews on Trustpilot — Thank You! 🌟

We’re incredibly grateful to have received 30 five-star reviews on Trustpilot — a milestone that means so much to our whole team.

Your kind words and trust in our care remind us why we do what we do. Whether you’re recovering from injury, managing a long-term condition, or striving for peak performance, we’re honoured to be part of your journey.

Thank you to all our clients for your ongoing support — it’s a privilege to help you move better, feel better, and get back to doing what you love. 🙏

Pam has been attending our Pilates classes for 14 years. She started with 1 hour a week. Over time, she added more sessions, walking, and more recently has been having physiotherapy too.

DJs and Bubbles in IFC 5

Since June we’ve been treated to the vibrant energy of Hola Fridays in Trenton Square, transforming our Friday evenings with fantastic music and lively post-work gatherings. We’ve also experienced the wonder of Bubbletecture alongside an impressive array of cultural offerings including ballet and musical performances. Our heartfelt thanks go to Art House Jersey, JDC and all the other sponsors who made these enriching experiences possible at the IFC

Final thought

This is one that resonates with most of us regardless of circumstances, studying, homework or even rehab…

“That what makes today easy, makes tomorrow hard”

So be kind to yourself—stop procrastinating and commit to getting your work/study/ rehab completed. Your future self will thank you for the effort you put in today.

Have a great week
